Privacy Policy

HMW is operated by How Minds Work ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you connect your TikTok account to HMW, why, and how you can remove it.

What we collect

• From TikTok (with your approval): your open ID, display name and profile photo URL, plus an access token and refresh token that let HMW publish the posts you approve.
• From you: the videos you upload, the captions and hashtags you write, your privacy choice for each post, and your email if you contact us.
• Basic logs: the time of each publish request and the result TikTok returns, so we can show you errors and fix bugs.

We do not collect your TikTok password. We do not read your direct messages, followers, contacts, or videos you did not send through HMW.

Why we use it

• To show which TikTok account is connected.
• To send the posts you approve to that account.
• To answer your support emails and fix problems.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use it to train AI models.

Who sees it

Only How Minds Work and the hosting and storage providers we use to run HMW. They process data for us and may not use it for their own purposes. We share data with TikTok only to publish the posts you approve. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Access and refresh tokens: deleted when you disconnect, or when they expire.
• Uploaded videos: deleted within 7 days after the post is published or cancelled.
• Name, photo URL and open ID: deleted within 30 days after you disconnect or ask us to delete them.
• Publish logs: kept up to 90 days, then deleted.
• Support emails: kept up to 12 months.

Website analytics

This website uses Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling. It may set cookies and record anonymous page activity. It does not receive your TikTok data. You can block it with your browser settings or an ad blocker.

Security

Tokens are stored encrypted on our servers and sent only over HTTPS. Only How Minds Work staff who run HMW can reach them. No system is perfectly secure, so we limit what we store.

Your choices

• Remove HMW from the connected apps list in your TikTok settings. TikTok then stops our access.
• Email hello@howmindswork.org to see, correct or delete your data. See data deletion.

Children

HMW is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has connected an account, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above. If a change affects how we use TikTok data, we will tell connected users first.
